Huge floor-standing West German vase (485-45) was made around 1965 by Scheurich Keramik.
This is a handled version of their famous “Amsterdam” relif motif, so called because it was designed to reflect the national flower of Amsterdam – the Tulip. Others know it as the “onion” design; whichever you prefer, this design quickly became a mid-century classic with its modernist simplicity.
This example comes in striking red outer glaze and dark brown interior.
