Very striking vintage hand-made sculpture of an Ainu man created from solid wood on Hokkaido island. This figure sits with an almost war-like post with deep-set eyes and fierce look. It has real presence due to the deep carving and depth to the whole piece.
The Eagle headpiece is a traditional garment worn by the Ainu people, hundreds of years ago they used to hunt Eagles to use to trade the tail feathers with mainland Japan.
The sculpture has a hollowed area on the back so it can be hung on a wall.
