Bold colourful painting on silk of workers working in a Malaysian rubber plantation.
This painting was created in the 1960/70s using the Batik technique that has been practiced in southeast Asia for 2000 years. A dyeing process us used to create intricate designs from each particular region. The process uses a dye-resistant wax which is applied to either cotton or silk fabric, painted with a colour between the wax areas then boiled off to reveal the pattern. This process is then repeated for each colour in the painting.
It has a good solid frame and picture wire so is ready to hang.
